Grace exists because of the individual generosity of many within and outside our community. We have no outside funding from a larger religious organization or denomination. It is as simple as this equation: money given = inclusive, love filled ministry.

STEWARDSHIP 101 @Grace
As a self-sustaining community, we have a primary responsibility for our community’s financial health and continuance. Every year, many communities and churches run stewardship campaigns intended to generate promises of financial support (pledges) for the upcoming budget year. Your pledges of support for 2020 will help our community know how much we can budget for in the coming year.
Pledging: Frequently Asked Questions Who can pledge? Anyone! Community members, friends, family - everyone is welcome to support the work of Grace Community Boston. What is a pledge? A pledge is a promise or commitment. A pledge is saying “yes” to Grace’s ministry and a way to build a covenant with this community. Practically speaking, a pledge is an amount that you financially commit to give to this community (weekly, monthly, annually) during a specific calendar year. Why is pledging important? Pledging is an important spiritual exercise, allowing us to reflect on the gifts God has given us and to show our gratitude and thanks for this gifts by giving back to our community. In addition, our pledge demonstrates the value we hold for the ministries of Grace: our sacred gatherings, youth group, music, fellowship, and opportunities for service. Who decides where my pledge goes? We ALL do! Your pledge goes toward the creation of an operating budget created by our treasurer and trustees with input from the community. Pledging income is the foundation for staff salaries, rentals, programming, outreach and giving as a community. We discuss the budget together and we collectively vote to accept, reject or revise the budget as a community at our annual meeting in January. Is my donation tax deductible? Yes! At the end of the year all givers who designate money (and other items) will receive a summary statement from the Treasurer of your personal donations made for the year with the tax ID number for Grace. This can be used for tax purposes so making a pledge and tracking your giving makes a big difference for you too! Will people know how much I give? No! Pledges are kept in confidence between the Treasurer and you. Pastoral Care and relationships with the minister & other members of the community are not based on financial giving. If I make a pledge, what happens if I cannot fulfill my pledge? You are not legally bound to give what you pledge. But if for whatever reason you are not able to meet your pledge it would be helpful to advise the treasurer so adjustments to the budget can be made if necessary.
Tell me how to pledge! Thank you! You can submit your pledge in a variety of ways, but you only need to submit it once. Use our electronic form which goes to our treasurer https://tinyurl.com/gcboston
More FAQs What is tithing? Tithing is the practice of pledging a specific percentage of your net income or “take home pay” to the community. Percentage based giving helps us get out of a specific dollar amount donation and think in terms of our overall income. Many givers start with 2% and gradually increase to a 5%-10% tithe.
